Wes Lane, Principal, Lead Design

Lighting Designer Wes Lane began his career in lighting as a product design engineer for
High End Systems (www.highend.com), an industry leader in the entertainment and theatrical
lighting industry. During his nine years with High End, his focus was on the design of cutting
edge automated lighting instruments. Wes quickly rose through the ranks to earn eight U.S.
patents and lead a design team responsible for creating some of High End’s most successful
products to date, these included: Cyberlight, Studio Color, Studio Spot 250, Studio Color 250,
and Studio Beam.

In the summer of 2000, Wes founded Solux Design in Austin, Texas. Solux was a high end
lighting showroom with a focus on contemporary decorative and architectural products. Solux
allowed Wes to expand his talents and apply them to many successful projects throughout the
U.S., in both lighting design and custom fixture design / fabrication, including restaurants,
boutiques, night clubs, high-end residences and pools.

Wes’ lighting creations have been included on many AIA Homes Tours. He also designed the
Lighting Laboratory at the University of Texas School of Architecture, a state-of-the-art
resource for students to incorporate lighting into their projects. He assisted the UT School of
Architecture with their 2005 Solar Decathlon entry.

Wes received a platinum Award for Design Excellence (ADEX) in 2006 for a custom designed
pendant “Shinmauri” which was hand crafted by the noted Los Angeles-based Satori Light
Sculptures. He also received 2 platinum and a gold ADEX award in 2007 for cubed, cubozoa,
and pen-will, respectively.

Wes founded LIGHTfaktor as a lighting design company with a focus on high-end, modern
design, employing the latest advancements in lighting technology and style. Wes actively
practices techniques in embedded architecture and makes use of automated lighting and
DMX control to bring his projects to life. As his craftsmanship continues to grow, so do
demands for Wes’ expertise on lighting partnerships with nationally recognized architects and
designers across the country
